This album by saxophonist Billy Harper launched the Black Saint label, back in 1975.
"Black Saint is still the album people associate with Harper; a strong, eclectic blend of blues, hard-edged rock patterns and the by-now-familiar preaching style. Jones and Bonner are greatly admired in Europe, too, and the pianist makes his mark on the record from the very start with his tersely romantic approach and elastic chord-patterns which add fuel to the perfervid intensity of the leader." (The Penguin Guide to Jazz)
The LP was named Jazz Record of the Year -- Voice Grand Prix, by the Modern Jazz League of Tokyo.
