Ideal Scene

"On July 11, 1986 we played our first concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Den Haag, Holland. On July 22 we recorded this album in Milan, Italy. That is the ideal scene for a band-- do a tour for a period and then record.  We played eight concerts (two sets a night some nights), so we got to test the material. Also, we had played eight days in Japan the previous December, plus a number of concerts over a year; so it really felt like a band."   (source: from the CD's liner notes by Lee Konitz)
