Waldron, Woody Shaw (trumpet) Charlie Rouse (tenor), Reggie Workman (bass), Ed Blackwell (drums) all take extended solos and each is at the absolute top of his form. The title track, which checks in at 27 minutes, is a haunting meditation in which the interplay between piano and bass supplies only one of the album's downright thrilling features.
