Monodrama

For the first time, the original 1984 vinyl has been meticulously transferred and remastered in digital format, preserving the full warmth and dynamics of its analog source.

Giorgio Gaslini’s 1984 LP Monodrama, recorded with his octet, is a richly textured work that blends contemporary jazz with theatrical and experimental elements. It’s part of his acclaimed “Serie Jazz Contemporaneo” on Dischi Della Quercia.   Monodrama is a suite-like composition that explores the intersection of jazz, voice, and abstract narrative.    The title track features dramatic vocal passages layered over shifting instrumental textures, evoking a theatrical monologue in sound.   The album is considered a standout in Gaslini’s 1980s output, showcasing his ability to blend compositional rigor with expressive freedom.
