The title of this album is enough to reveal a charm, “Live at Birdland” and to open the mind to a collective image that brings you back to the greats of the past, to those musicians who wrote history within the walls of this famous New York club. Suffice it to say that not only was Enrico Pieranunzi the only Italian to receive a carte blanche in that magical venue at 315 West 44th Street, but on this occasion he was accompanied by two giants in music history. Two absolute masters like Steve Swallow and Paul Motian. Just listening to the first five minutes of this unique recording is all you need to understand that the chemistry worked, that by putting these magical elements together, the magic that CAM JAZZ so strongly desired, was made.
